About Us
Tumultuous times can have their bright side. Opportunities to minister and to
proclaim the Good News abound!!
In 2009, Main Street Ministries Houston (MSMH) was founded to consolidate three active
and successful outreaches: Operation ID (offering help
to restore lost or stolen identification),
the Shepherd's Center (offering limited financial
assistance and literature on hundreds of other resources in our city), and the
MSMH Chapter of His Father’s Heart Ministries
(a support group for ex-offenders and the homeless) -- this "chapter" has since grown
into its own ministry, Holy Ground. In January 2010,
Nehemiah Ministries was added (offering free consulting
for groups who wish to start day-care and after-school care for at-risk communities).
Located at 5100 Travis,
each ministry offers help in a Christ-centered environment to those who find themselves
in or very near a crisis situation. In January 2011, our building will
also house a second location for
WorkFaith Connection, an outreach focused on helping ex-offenders find and keep
jobs. Addition, there are over 1,500 benevolent agencies in and around Houston to
whom we can refer clients that will assist them with situations beyond our mission
or the scope of our efforts.
Main Street Ministries Houston caters to clients who have few resources – perhaps
because of a personal crisis or emergency situation, a loss of employment,
a natural disaster, or loss of identification. Too many are homeless; all are
fighting desperately to piece their lives together. MSMH has become a resource
and a refuge; your help is vital and welcome – from volunteering a few hours per week, to
one or more half-days, to full-time – and all donations are well-spent.
Our clients need assistance, encouragement, and Christ-centered guidance as they
walk through difficult days. MSMH's vital ministries provide basic first steps
toward transforming a life.
