How to Volunteer with Operation ID

Interviewing: Choose one or two 3-hour morning shifts per week, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays , from 9 a.m. to Noon. All new volunteers will work with an experienced interviewer as part of their training process, to assist our clients with documentation for obtaining new or replacement identification. Basic computer skills and biligual skills are helpful, but not necessary. Additional training is provided, as changes in protocol arise.

Hospitality 1: Choose one or more 2-hour morning shifts per week, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., in our reception lobby. We would like two volunteers per morning for each day, serving, listening, and praying with our clients. Helping with trouble-shooting and facilitating paperwork may also be involved. Training is provided, and bilingual abilities are an asset but not necessary.

Hospitality 2: (For Houston Community Voice Mail), choose one or two 3-hour morning shifts per week, on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 9 a.m. til noon. You will canvas clients to identify those that would like to receive a free voice mail, set up voice mails for those interested, maintain a log book and fax in sign-up sheets. As needed, you will request new log-in reports, deliver numbers monthly to the Director, download messages to MSMH from the regional office, and answer questions from clients. Training is provided, and bilingual abilities are an asset but not necessary.

Telephone Reception: Choose one or two 3-hour morning shifts per week, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 9 a.m. til Noon. We need 1 to 2 volunteers to fill a total of 6 to 8 hours per week, answering our primary phone and routing calls, taking messages, and helping direct clients to other agencies that may be more appropriate than one of our ministries. Basic computer skills needed (to check database and/or appointment schedules), bilingual skills preferred but not necessary. Training is provided.

Clerical: The computer operator position(s) with Operation ID is for one (or two) volunteer(s), for a total of 8 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This person(s) will enter client data into Microsoft Access and/or print checks using QuickBooks. Intermediate computer skills are necessary; training is provided.
