How to Volunteer for MSMH Clerical & Logistics

These positions are available on a FT or PT basis, and often bridge across more than one ministry. They comprise the "backstage" activities required to keep the organization running smoothly, support our volunteers, and track information needed for grant writing, government compliance, and our best future planning. Some interact directly with our clients, others do not.

Telephone Reception: Choose one or more 3-hour afternoon (1 to 4 p.m.) shift(s) per week (or take Friday morning from 9-12 a.m.) answering our primary phone and routing calls, taking messages, and helping direct clients to other agencies that may be more appropriate than one of our ministries. Basic computer skills needed (to check database and/or appointment schedules); bilingual skills are a plus but not necessary. Training is provided; additional responsibilities may be offered as the volunteers/staff agree upon.

Bookkeeping: This person reconciles credit card bills and bank statements; makes deposit, payroll, and journal entries; creates and prints reports for the Executive Director and Board; does some filing. Schedule is flexible, afternoons are best since there are fewer activities/clients scheduled in the building at that time. Intermediate QuickBooks skills required, some training is available. Must be detail-oriented, no bilingual skills needed.
